Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly challenge presented by my old friend Al Forbes.
The idea is to write a short story (200 word max) inspired by what you see in his picture (below).
This week’s chilling photo leaves me shivering.
In anticipation.

Tourists
I love the ski season.
I have just bought myself a new Yamaha YZ125 with money I got from tourists.
It’s an off road bike, ideal for the treacherous icy conditions up here in the Cairngorms.
A lot of the mountain roads can be tricky to drive, especially for city folk.
I started earning on an old second-hand bicycle when I was only twelve.
I have come a long way in the last four years.
I grew up here, so I know all the dangerous curves and corners.
That is where I meet the tourists.
People react instinctively when they see a kid sliding on a patch of ice.
Sometimes they end up going into one of the steep little gorges.
They can be badly hurt sometimes.
I have even found one or two dead.
That is how I leave all of them.
And that is how I get money from tourists.
