which way
I see donkeys in a field
and I wonder
are they happy
with the lives they lead
I suppose
that their choices
are limited
they eat grass
and like us
they look forward
to spring
probably with the same
twinkle
in their eyes
when I have
no more grass
from the greener side
to offer them
they lose interest
and wander off
in apparently random directions
which makes me realise
that much of my life
is like that
it makes little
or no difference
which way
I go
